Dogs are creatures of habit. They like and thrive on routine. My boy Hunter was crazy before we got into a day to day routine. Obviously not every day is the same, but he knows what to expect when for the most part.

The same goes for nose work. Hunter knows his routine. Every part of the routine let’s him know what is expected when.

Heres our routine and you can see some of it in the video below.

• We drive to where we are going
• I get him out of his crate
• He pees
• I put his nose work harness on
• I put my red training vest on
• I get his treats and toy squirrel ready in the vest
• We get to start
• I ask him if he is ready
• When he is I say “find it”
• He searches
• Gets his special nose work treats at each find
• I tell Hunter “Done”
• He gets his squirrel toy
• He goes back in crate
• Harness comes off
• We drive home
